You can count live video supervision toward your LICSW with no cap, but phone supervision won't count and the board recommends an in-person first session.

• Live video only; phone supervision is not accepted
• Board recommends the first supervision session be in person
• 100 hours of individual supervision from an LICSW

Marriage & Family Therapy (LMFT)

You can count supervision by live video or phone toward your LMFT with no cap, under a board policy made permanent in 2023.

• 200 post-master's supervision hours, at least 100 individual
• Private practice settings don't qualify for post-master's experience
• 1,000 post-master's face-to-face client hours, 500 with couples/families

Psychology

You can count supervision by secure live video toward your Massachusetts psychology license, and your supervisor no longer has to be on site, under a 2023 board policy.

• Use a secure, HIPAA-compliant videoconferencing platform
• Supervisor must be available and have record access during services
• Weekly supervision, 1 hour per 16 hours, half from a licensed psychologist
