Mental Health Counselor Supervisors in New Jersey

Counseling (LPC / LMHC)

New Jersey requires weekly face-to-face supervision but does not say whether video counts, so confirm with the Committee before relying on video hours.

• At least 50 supervision hours per year, one hour weekly
• No more than 10 hours per year may be group supervision
• Written supervision plan must be Committee-approved before counseling begins

Social Work (LCSW)

You can do up to half of your supervision hours as individual supervision over HIPAA-compliant live video, and the rest must be face-to-face.

Telesupervision is capped at half of supervision hours, after at least one in-person meeting.

• Supervisor must complete six hours of telesupervision training
